Q: Can I use the same rope and handle for water skiing and for wakeboarding?
A: Actually, if you are out riding on a wakeboard, you are going to need a stiffer rope than someone on water skis. A stiffer rope will help you perform tricks because it will not stretch and can therefore allow you to get more air and also to pull yourself into some awesome spins and flips. Of course, if you spend a lot of time water skiing and you only want to get one rope, get a ski rope. You can still wakeboard with it. If you do not water ski and only wakeboard, go with a no stretch rope. If, however you spend equal amounts of time out on the water on both your wakeboard and water skis, then you want a low stretch rope… it gives you a happy medium. You may need to vary the length of your rope, though. Also, wakeboard handles are generally more specialized than water ski handles. They tend to have a wider grip (for tricks).

Q: How do I clean my wetsuit?
A: No matter what you use your wetsuit for, it is likely to start stinking at some point. Our sweat and natural body oils can get trapped on the wetsuit, causing it to smell. Oh, and peeing in your wetsuit most certainly does not help! After every time you use your wetsuit, you should wash it out with fresh water. After every few weeks (if you use your wetsuit a lot), dunk it into fresh warm water mixed with dishwashing detergent and swirl it around. Hose it down (get all of the soap off), and then let it air dry.

Q: Are my wakeboard bindings too small?
A: Your wakeboard bindings should fit very snugly, so before you trade them in for a larger size, try these few tips. First of all, never try to get your feet into your wakeboard bindings when they are dry. Rather, dunk your board into the water so that the bindings get wet. Also, lubing your wakeboard bindings will make it much easier to slide your feet in (of course, make sure you use a bio-degradable and water soluble lube). Also, realize that your wakeboard bindings will loosen up after some use. Of course, if your feet become numb after wearing them for a while, your wakeboard bindings may be too small. Before you trade them in, though loosen up the overlays.

Q: What is the difference between a wakeboard and a wake skate?
A: The main difference between a wakeboard and a wake skate is that your feet are attached via wakeboard bindings to your wakeboard, whereas they are free on your wake skate. A wake board is more like a snowboard, and a wake skate if more like a skateboard. Therefore, some of the tricks that can be done on a wake skate are similar to those done on a skateboard. Instead of bindings, a wake skate has either grip tape or a non-slip foam.

Q: What are the different types of life preservers?
A: Some life preservers (also called life jackets, PFDs, life vests, etc.) have a foam core. These life preservers are inherently buoyant, even if water leaks in. They tend to be used in relatively safe environments (like swimming pools and amusement parks. Coastal cruises and airlines use air chamber life preservers. These tend to have more buoyancy than foam life jackets, but they must be inflated. There are also specialized lifejackets used for kayaking, fishing, rafting, and other water sports
